Sweden’s Natural Cycles raises €50.8M for hormone-free birth control offerings

Natural Cycles, the Stockholm-based Swedish startup specializing in women’s health, has obtained a substantial €50.8 million in Series C funding. The funding round was led by Lauxera Capital Partners, with participation from Point72 Private Investments and an additional revolving debt facility provided by J.P. Morgan.

The €50.8 million Series C investment it secured serves multiple purposes, including the rapid advancement of commercial growth, the fostering of groundbreaking product development, and the streamlining of healthcare reimbursement automation procedures.

Established in 2013 by Dr. Elina Berglund Scherwitzl and Dr. Raoul Scherwitzl, Natural Cycles pioneered the initial direct-to-consumer contraceptive app, boasting a three million user base globally. Notably, it stands as the sole digital contraceptive method approved by regulatory bodies in the United States (FDA), Canada (Health Canada), Europe (TÜV SÜD), Singapore (HSA), Australia (TGA), and South Korea (MFDS).

The health tech firm’s innovative digital contraceptive app has regulatory clearance from various authoritative bodies, including the FDA, TÜV SÜD, Health Canada, TGA, HSA, and MFDS. It stands alone in the market as a game-changer in the field of hormone-free birth control solutions.
